What is Komboloi – worry beads?

Worry beads or komboloi, kompoloi (Greek: κομπολόι bead collection; plural: κομπολόγια) is a string of beads manipulated with one or two hands and used to pass time in Greek and Cypriot culture. Unlike the similar prayer beads used in many religious traditions, including the Greek Orthodox komboskini, worry beads have no religious or ceremonial purpose.

Etymology: Modern Greek κομπολόι is derived from κομπολόγια [ΚΟΜΠΟΛΟΓΙΑ] < κόμπος “knot” + -λόγια “collection”. It is sometimes said that it is short for the phrase “σε κάθε κόμπο προσευχή λέω”, “in every knot I say a prayer”- κόμπο “knot”-λέω “say” > κόμπο-λέω > κομπολόι. This etymology accounts for the fact that κομπολόι evolved from κομποσκοίνι, the Greek word for prayer rope.

Can I return my order back for refund or exchange?

You have the right to return any goods for refund if you are not satisfied. Money back or item exchange (buyer’s choice). If you have any questions about our items please contact us before buying. Returned items must be in new, original, unused condition and include original tags, packaging, covering. Returns are only accepted with authorization by phone, email, or by filling a contact form directly from our system and wait for confirmation. We are not responsible for items ordered incorrectly so please be sure your order. Returned merchandise is subject to inspection and approval prior to credit being issued. You must inform us in writing within two days of receiving the order and obtain a return reference number. We do not accept a komboloi for return which has been specially custom ordered unless faulty.

I've received a faulty item, what should I do?

Please return the item to us as soon as possible so we can get this sorted for you. Don’t forget to select ‘Faulty’ when asked for a reason for your return. If you’re not able to return it back, please get in touch with our Customer Care team and they will gladly help you further.

I've received an incorrect item in my order, what do I do?

If you’ve received something you haven’t ordered, please send it back to us and we’ll refund you as soon as it arrives back at our warehouse. If you still want the item and it’s still in stock, please order it through our website as normal. The easiest way to do this is to log into My Account, view your original order and add the items to your shopping bag.

Returning an unwanted item?

We get it, sometimes something just doesn’t work for you and you want your money back. Don’t worry, as long as an item is still in its original condition, we accept returns, subject to the rules below, which includes rules around fair use. None of these rules affect your statutory rights.

If you return an item requesting a refund within 2 days of the item being delivered to you or available for collection, we’ll give you a full refund by way of the original payment method.

For all returns, we aim to refund you within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

After that?

We don’t accept returns for unwanted items after the relevant returns period above. If you try to make a return, we may have to send it back to your default delivery address and ask you to cover the delivery costs.

Responsibility

Returned items are your responsibility until they reach us, so make sure they’re packed up properly and can’t get damaged on the way!

As the parcel remains your responsibility until it arrives back with us, ensure that you get proof of postage in case you need to contact us about your return.
